The presence of United States military installations in North Carolina has long been understood to support the state’s economy in numerous ways. In 2008, The North Carolina Department of Commerce published a study titled North Carolina’s Military Footprint: Current Economic Impacts and Projections for 20131 to better understand the connections between military operations and the North Carolina economy. Since 2008, there has been a significant realignment of military personnel.
