Interior triangle has nine triangular blocks, each one with a traditional quilt pattern in a variety of solids and calico prints. Two blocks are hand appliqued, one with a heart-shaped applique of vintage crochet lace; others are machine pieced. Each block has the Contributor's name or initials written or embroidered, and each block has a threaded needle left in the work. Reverse fabric of same coral cotton is folded to front and hand appliqued to make 1/4 inch binding; legend "Suzanne. Betty. Kay. Sherre. MARY. Marion. Marissa. Mary Jo. Lee" is written in marker on binding at bottom edge of panel. Reverse = signature "Kay Burlingham / Evanston, Illinois / 1982" in black marker near right corner. |
