This honour quilt has been made by Ms. Anis Akhtar a talented young woman who teaches tailoring to high school girls in a village in India, a few miles away from Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow. Anis specialised as a school teacher with a B.Ed. And earned an M.A. in Sociology. She also took courses in tailoring. The school is run by the Centre for Women's Studies and Development of Isabella Thoburn College as a part of its integrated community development project. Isabella Thoburn College is one of the nine colleges of Asia which forms the Asian Women's Institute. Each of the nine colleges has established a centre for women's studies and development. / Anis who is an artist in her own rights was happy to donate her skills and time in quilting and embroidering the triangle. |
