Eddie Davis

Lifelong Louisville, Kentucky resident Eddie Davis has been an active member of the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression for decades. Davis is a freelance photographer who has captured many important moments of the Alliance’s history on film.

 

Ira Grupper

Ira Grupper’s social justice work began in 1959 as a teenager in his New York housing project. Grupper’s social justice, labor organizing, and disability rights work has taken him all over the U.S. South and around the world. He is an active member of the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.

 

Mattie Jones

Mattie Jones was active in the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression for decades serving in leadership roles on several issues including school desegregation, workplace discrimination and police abuse and brutality.

 

Gracie Lewis

Gracie Lewis is a journalist, activist and longtime member of the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. Lewis’ work promoting fairness and equality in employment, housing, education and criminal justice led to her 2010 induction into the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights Civil Rights Hall of Fame.

David Lott

David Lott

David Lott is one of the 2011 co-chairs of the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. Lott has been very involved with Alliance support for LGBT rights.

 

Beverley Marmion

Beverley Marmion was an active member of the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression for 25 years, working on several issues including school desegregation and open housing.

 

Rhonda Mathies

Rhonda Mathies was very active in a leadership role in the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Mathies was the organizations spokesperson on many issues including police brutality and abuse.

Tom Moffett

Tom Moffett

Tom Moffett is a writer, historian and longtime Board member of the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.

K. A. Owens

K.A. Owens

K.A. Owens is one of the 2011 co-chairs of the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. Owens joined the group in 1995 after participating in the Million Man March on Washington.

David Lott

Shameka Parrish-Wright

Shameka Parrish-Wright began her work with the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression in the early 2000’s as an intern. Parrish-Wright continues her work with the organization with a particular interest in fostering youth participation in social justice movement work.

Thomas Pearce

Thomas Edward Pearce

Thomas Pearce became involved with the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression during his time as a college student at UofL. Pearce took the organizing skills he learned at the Alliance to work on issues involving Native Americans and environmental justice around the country.

 

Fran Thomas

Fran Thomas was very active with the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression in its formative years. Thomas served as a co-chair of the organization as well as executive director in the early 1990’s.

Carla Wallace

Carla Wallace

Carla Wallace has dedicated her life to social justice work through organizing with the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, The Fairness Campaign and most recently in a nationwide network Showing Up for Racial Justice.
