This guide includes information about how to use UofL Folio and related systems

Integrate ORCID iD with DMPTool

What is DMPTool?

It is a free, open-source, online application that helps researchers create data management plans (DMP). These plans are now required by many funding agencies as part of the proposal submission process.

How to Use DMPTool?

  1. Get an account at https://dmptool.org (UofL is an affiliated institution, choose option 1. Your Institution)
  2. See instructions on DMPTool website.
  3. For more related information, visit the library's website on data management plans

How to Integrate ORCID iD with DMPTool

  1. Sign in to DMPTool with your ULink ID (choose option 1. Your Institution first)
  2. Click on your name to see the pull-down menu
  3. Click on "3rd party applications"
  4. Click on the link, "Create or Connect your ORCID iD
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to sign in or create your ORCID account
  6. You should now see your ORCID iD link shown on your DMPTool's 3rd party applications page

Integration Benefits

DMPs are a defined work type within an ORCID record and are listed on an individual’s ORCID record. When a DMPTool user “Registers” their plan, a DMP ID is generated, and this record is automatically pushed to ORCID and included as a work on their ORCID profile page.
