Librarians can teach a library instruction session online in real time in Microsoft Teams, Blackboard Collaborate, or elsewhere. Just like with in-person library instruction, we will work with you to tailor instruction to your research assignment and student needs on topics like research strategies, evaluating information, understanding scholarly sources, and searching general and subject-specific databases.
Contact: Use the Instruction Request Form to schedule a date and time for synchronous instruction. Select Online under "Where will this instruction take place?" and choose Synchronous. You can also contact your department's Liaison Librarian or Amber Willenborg to schedule instruction.
Timeframe: Please schedule instruction at least one week in advance to ensure adequate preparation time and librarian availability.
We can record a custom screen-capture video tailored to your research assignment and student needs, covering topics like generating keywords, searching in general or subject-specific databases, and evaluating information. We'll work with you to determine the content of your video.
Custom Video Examples:
ENGL 102 - Generating Keywords & Searching Databases
ELFH 693 - Finding Scholarly Articles in ERIC

An interactive tutorial allows your students to get hands-on experience with library research skills by guiding them through a process step by step. Custom Tutorial Examples:
ECPY 302 - Library Research Module
PSYC 302 - Literature Search Activity
Contact: Use the Instruction Request Form to request an interactive tutorial. Select Online (Asynchronous) under "Where will this instruction take place?" You can also contact your department's Liaison Librarian or Amber Willenborg to get started with an interactive tutorial.
Timeframe: Please request custom tutorials ten days in advance to allow adequate time for the librarian to work with you on tutorial content.
