CJ 325: Research Methods (Fisher): Exercise 1: Searching

Searching Exercise

  1. Using one of your research questions, write down at least 3-5 keywords to search – think of the earlier exercise to help you brainstorm keywords (e.g. related concepts; solutions to the issue; related questions).

  2. Use your keywords to search in Criminal Justice Abstracts to locate a scholarly article that is relevant and respond to the following questions:

    1. Why did you select this source? In other words, how is it relevant to your research question?
    2. How does the abstract speak to the importance and feasibility of your research question? This may not be immediately clear from the abstract, but think broadly.
