The state of Kentucky devolves some powers to its counties and municipalities to make local laws affecting matters like zoning, noise pollution, fire safety, etc.

Kentucky's constitution is more wide-ranging than in many other states. The constitution was drafted in the 1890-91 Constitutional Convention, and was preceded by 3 earlier versions. The current document is included in all official versions of state codes.
