Background Factual Research Online: Organizations

Learn how to thoroughly research the background of a legal issue online.

Government Agencies & Non-Profits

Most government agencies and non-profit organizations have websites with a great deal of information. Many of these websites will host studies, reports, and data collected by the organization over time. A general online search for the topic you are interested in should generate links to relevant agencies and organizations, but the following links provide quick access to federal and international groups. Local non-profits may have less of a web presence, but often have Facebook or other social media pages to provide basic information about their organization and activities.

If a business or corporation is a stakeholder or otherwise involved in the issue you are researching, it may be useful to gather additional information about them. The following links allow you to find company filings, profiles, and other information.
