Edition of 35 copies, autographed and numbered by the artist, Art Library has copy 25. "Dating is part personal ad, part consolidation of my thoughts based on prior experiences. It is meant to be funny, but also to seriously examine and question the expectations brought to romantic encounters. It is a very personal work, but my readers seem to find themes that resonate with them as well. The book consists of an envelope enclosure holding 5 small [sewn, letterpress printed] pamphlets and a card. The pamphlet books ask questions and provide a choose-your-own-adventure of sarcastic answers. Language not suitable for children" -- Artist's statement at Vamp & Tramp Booksellers website, viewed February 7, 2018.

Limited edition of 21 copies. In De ma nuit naît ton jour, (From my Night your day is born), (2001) text from Aline Apostolska with a photograph from the French artist Bernard Gast, the purpose was to create a book integrating day and night, light and darkness. The book wooden structure takes the shape of a double frame window, it suggests a stereoscopic photograph. Without light, the image is opaque. It is revealed only while holding the book in front of a light source. The fragmented image of a person drowning, based on film shots, creates a movement, waves of various lengths similar to the ones of the text.--J. Fournier's website, viewed Sept. 17, 2019.

After being interned with his parents at the Minikoda Internment Camp in Idaho, Frank Masao Shigemura was released to attend Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, with the help of the newly formed National Japanese American Student Relocation Council, headed by John W. Nason. Although Shigemura described his year at Carleton as the best of his life, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was killed in battle in France on October 20, 1944. When Carleton published a memorial "Gold Star" booklet which honored the Carleton men who had been killed in the war, Mr. and Mrs. Shigemura responded with the first of many donations to the college. From their correspondence, Carleton President Laurence M. Gould developed a friendship with the Shigemuras, and as their contributions continued, helped establish the Frank Shigemura Scholarship at Carleton. The alumni felt Frank's loyalty should be made public and asked George Grimm, a columnist, to write about it. Grimm wrote a series of articles on the Shigemuras's generosity; the articles were collected and reprinted elsewhere.

Eight questions: a recipe for change / Stephanie Copoulos-Selle / Art Library Rare Books Collection - N 7433.4 .C648 E34 2018

"The artist found eight shoe boxes in her parents' laundry room full of recipes--over 8,000. Each book has original recipe cards; therefore, each is a variant, as the recipes will be different. The recipes represent her family life growing up where she felt warm & safe 'inside the kitchen with soup on the stove and bread in the oven.' Today the environment she lives in is 'frayed, full of loose ends, and knots.' Using this backdrop of happiness that the recipes represent for her she presents eight questions for us about th e current status of our society--Why can't we protect our children from gun violence? Why can't we stop killing people out of hatred? Why can't we help those less fortunate? Why can't we take care of our environment? Why can't our elected officials be ethical? Why can't a woman choose what happens to her body? Why do we need so many bombs?"--Vamp & Tramp Booksellers' website, viewed February 5, 2020.

Limited edition of 15 copies."The elements of my work represent everything that I see, hear, breathe, and taste. Just as each of our actions has a meaning, there is a reason why each of my lines and dots is created just so. My marks often employ circles and bars as metaphors for rain and water. Rain is about hope. It gives life to all creatures on Earth. It is an essential element in the cycle of life. The circle represents the natural duality of the infinite whole, and suggests the constant balancing forces of Yin and Yang. In living our daily lives, we are confronted with an almost incomprehensible deluge of images, and our understanding of the world around us-our reality-is largely dependent upon which of these images we choose to inform us and which we reject. We are, therefore, simultaneously enlightened and deceived about the true nature of our universe"--Artist's statement.

"Drawings of people reading--sketched during the artist's daily commute--are translated into block prints on discarded library cards and newspapers. The commuters engaged in their own private world intersect with the book titles and names of past readers on the cards. In different postures of concentration, they are creating a mental space for themselves, an escape, or just making time pass. The office materials used to construct each book imply tasks the workers are bound for. The nostalgia of the old cards suggest a history of the changing methods of reading. An open edition variété, each Everday Readers book is unique. Block prints on library checkout cards are combined and bound in pamphlet format and finished with a unique vintage book cover."--23 Sandy Gallery website, viewed Feb. 1, 2011.

Limited variable edition of 10 copies, signed and numbered by the artist. Art Library has copy 8. "Through this work I seek to investigate the deeply entrenched gender biases that plague the Indian society. It is comprised of two parts: part one is the game of Fortune Teller; part two is my personal childhood story. The Fortune Teller--an unassuming childhood game that predicts your future based on choices you make. As the viewer interacts with this seemingly benign and innocuous game they are confronted by the cold, hard statistics of gender inequality in India. For the second part of the piece, I narrate my first hand experiences of growing up in India. As the reader takes this journey with me from my childhood to teenage years, the deeply entrenched biases come to life. I wanted to give the reader the statistics of gender bias, but also my personal story so the mundane numbers would become real.
