Off-Campus Access

Remote access to electronic resources is limited to University of Louisville of faculty, staff and students.  An ULink userID and password is required to access the libraries online catalog, electronic resources, and to view the full-text of articles online.  If you are having problems, then call the IT helpdesk at (502) 852-7997. 

Computers in the Library

ULink userID and password are required to use the computers at U of L Libraries. Non-U of L students need a State issued ID and a current college ID. Computers in the library provide access to our electronic resources, WorldCat Local, the online catalog, email, word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia software, and some discipline specific software (e.g. SPSS for statistics).

Laptops

Wireless laptops are available for checkout at the Ekstrom Library Media Services Desk. They can be used anywhere in the building, but cannot be taken out of the building.

Robotic Retrieval System

The Robotic Retrieval System (RRS) is storage system used for less heavily used items.  If an item is in the RRS, student/faculty/staff ID is required to submit a request.  The “location” for the item will be noted as, “ROBOTIC RETRIEVAL SYSTEM; Click on REQUEST button above.”  After clicking the “REQUEST” button and following the instructions, the item will be available for pick-up at the West Service Desk in Ekstrom Library.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan is a service available to the UofL community to obtain materials not owned by UofL Libraries.  Books are borrowed from, and photocopies of articles are provided by libraries throughout the country.  To set up an account and request materials, go to the web page:
