Definitions

Information literacy:
The ability to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively.

Media literacy:
The ability to decode media messages and assess the influence of those messages.

Political literacy:
The ability to understand and engage in public events and debate.

Historical literacy:
The knowledge of history and the ability to engage in conceptual reasoning about the past.

Emotional literacy:
The ability to understand your emotions and empathize with the emotions of others.

Cultural literacy:
The ability to comprehend and communicate across different cultural contexts.

Racial literacy:
The ability to probe the existence of racism and examine the effects of race and institutionalized systems.

Misinformation:
False information.

Disinformation:
A subset of misinformation spread with a purposeful intent to influence, manipulate, or deceive its target audience.

Malinformation:
Information that is based in reality but removed from its original context to inflict intentional harm on a person, group, or other entity.
