To determine the value of your object, consult a trained, professional art appraiser who is skilled in providing objective evaluations. Bridwell Art Library does not have a appraiser on staff and therefore is unable to provide art appraisals. Below is a list of professional appraisers and organizations.

Professional Appraisal Associations

Below is a list of national and international professional appraisal associations that may have additional contacts.

  • American Society of Appraisers 
    • The American Society of Appraisers is an organization of appraisal professionals and others interested in the appraisal profession. International in structure, it is self-supporting and independent. The oldest and only major appraisal organization representing all of the disciplines of appraisal specialists, the society originated in 1936 and incorporated in 1952. ASA’s headquarters is in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area.
       
  •  International Society of Appraisers
    • The International Society of Appraisers, or ISA, is the leading professional personal property appraisal association, representing the most highly trained and rigorously tested independent appraisers in the United States and Canada. ISA is a not-for-profit, member-driven association, formed to support member needs and enhance public trust by producing qualified and ethical appraisers who are recognized authorities in personal property appraising.
       
  • Appraisers Association of America 
    • The Appraisers Association of America, established in 1949, is the premier national association of personal property appraisers who focus on fine and decorative arts. The mission of the Appraisers Association of America is to develop and promote standards of excellence in the profession of appraising through education and the application of the highest form of professional practice, which results in enhancing the visibility and standing of appraisers within the private and professional communities in which they serve. 
       
  • Art of Estates
    • Art of Estates is an appraisal firm specializing in personal property providing professional certified appraisals, consulting, estimates, reviewing, and creating formal appraisal documents on entire estates, collections, and single items of personal property. The organization has appraisers in Indianapolis and Cincinnati.
