Mobile Medical Apps: Medical Mobile Apps

Kornhauser Library offers medical mobile app access for many of our licensed resources.  Apps are available for both Apple and Android devices.  Need help with app access?  This guide lists instructions on how to download all our mobile applications, if you need further instruction please contact your librarian. 

 

Board Vitals Dentistry

BoardVitals is a medical specialty board certification preparation tool, offering study material and question banks for physicians, medical students, and others in the healthcare industry.

For access, start by following the link below and registering/creating an account.  It is recommended that you use your UofL email address.  Once your account has been verified, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Google Play Store on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS.
  2. Search for "BoardVitals."
  3. Tap download.
  4. To access your subscription, use the same login credentials you used to register your BoardVitals account.

BrowZine

BrowZine is an app for Apple or Android smartphones and devices that helps you flip through the scholarly e-journals available through Purdue University Libraries. Browzine has sorted Purdue's e-journals into broad subjects and then into narrower disciplines.

For access, start by following the link below and registering/creating an account.  It is recommended that you use your UofL email address.  Once your account has been verified, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Google Play Store on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS.
  2. Search for "BrowZine"
  3. Tap download.
  4. To access your subscription, use the same login credentials you used to register your BrowZine account.

 

ClinicalKey

ClinicalKey is a clinical search engine from Elsevier featuring books, medical journals, images, videos, First Consult content, and much more.

For access, start by following the link below and registering/creating an account.  It is recommended that you use your UofL email address.  Once your account has been verified, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Google Play Store on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS.
  2. Search for "ClinicalKey"
  3. Tap download.
  4. To access your subscription, use the same login credentials you used to register your ClinicalKey account.

DynaMed

DynaMed is an electronic evidence-based, primary care database designed to provide the most useful point-of-care health information available. 

For access, start by following the link below and registering/creating an account.  It is recommended that you use your UofL email address.  Once your account has been verified, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Google Play Store on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS.
  2. Search for "DynaMed."
  3. Tap download.
  4. To access your subscription, use the same login credentials you used to register your DynaMed account.

Johns Hopkins POC-IT ABX Guide

Johns Hopkins ABX Guide is highest ranked infectious disease App in recent Clinical Infectious Diseases review.  With the Johns Hopkins ABX Guide you can: Choose the correct drug and dosage, then review the risk of potential adverse reactions or interactions.

For access, start by following the link below and registering/creating an account.  It is recommended that you use your UofL email address.  Once your account has been verified, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Google Play Store on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS.
  2. Search for "Johns Hopkins ABX Guide."
  3. Tap download.
  4. To access your subscription, use the same login credentials you used to register your Johns Hopkins ABX Guide account.

Lexicomp Dentistry

Lexicomp is a drug reference solution for hospital-wide or community pharmacists. Lexicomp features intuitive navigation, drug monographs, and drug interaction screenings to help pharmacists increase efficiency and improve workflow throughout the pharmacy.

The Medical Letter on Drugs and Therapeutics is a peer-reviewed biweekly medical journal providing evaluations of pharmaceutical drugs. 

  1. Navigate to the Google Play Store on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS.
  2. Search for "The Medical Letter"
  3. Tap download.
  4. To access your subscription, use the same login credentials you used to register for your Medical Letter online account.

Merck Manual of Medical Information

We are proud to make the Manuals available for free in digital form to professionals and patients around the world. No registration or subscription is required.  Merck offers the following apps:

  • Professional
  • The MSD Manual Guide to Obstetrics
  • Consumer
  • Veterinary

Micromedex

IBM Micromedex (formerly MicroMedex Health) enables searching across a suite of drug information databases, covering drug administration, adverse effects, clinical applications, contraindications, dosage, indications, interactions, over-dosage, pharmacology, precautions, product/substance identification, toxicity, references, synonyms, and uses. 

Installation instructions:

  1. Visit the App Store from your device and search IBM Micromedex Drug Ref.
  2. From the App, select download / install the application. You may be prompted to enter your Apple or Google ID.
  3. The app will download to your app library, or directly to your device.
  4. Open the app. Enter the password  Q7Avbn to begin using IBM Micromedex Drug Ref. The password is case-sensitive. Please enter it exactly as it appears here.
