How to Cite Sources: Home

How you cite sources depends on: a) which style you use, and b) what type of source you're citing.

  1. Ask your professor which citation style they prefer. Commonly used styles include APA, MLA, and Chicago Style.
  2. Use the database style creation tools (Ebsco, ProQuest, and the library catalog will create citations for sources you choose, many other databases will too)
  3. Find a citation manual or use a tool like EasyBib (for small projects) or EndNote (for big projects)
  4. Always check the citations created by these tools to the examples in the citation style manual.
