Hidden Histories of the American Revolution: A Research Guide

In recognition of Independence Day, this virtual book display highlights materials related to the Revolutionary War era, including new additions to Ekstrom Library’s collection. This guide is designed to support historical inquiry by helping users explore the complexities of the period through both primary and secondary sources.

The resources featured include materials that shed light on a broad range of contributions to the war effort and founding of the United States. These include works that support deeper investigation into often-overlooked historical narratives, such as the roles played by African Americans, Native Americans, and women.

Please be advised that some primary source documents reflect the cultural attitudes and language of their time, which may be considered offensive today. These items are preserved for their historical value and are intended for critical examination and research purposes.
