ASC Research Room Renovation Updates

The Archives and Special Collections research room (Ekstrom LL17) will be closed from December 13 until the end of March for a much-needed renovation. Most of our services will continue to be available, but will be relocated to other spaces. This guide will help you engage with our materials and staff while our space undergoes its transformation.

Reference Services and Collections

Beginning January 8, 2025, our research room will be in University Archives & Records Center space on the 4th floor of Ekstrom Library (room 400). Just ring the doorbell and we'll buzz you in!

Our hours will remain the same (Monday-Friday 10:00-5:00, 9:00-10:00 am by appointment).

Our contact information remains the same: we are available by email (archives@louisville.edu) or telephone (502 852-6752).

Most of our collections will remain accessible as before. However, the following collections will not be available:

  • Reference files (subject files on the University, Louisville, and individuals connected to Louisville)
  • Photographic subject files
  • Some city directories (an incomplete set of duplicates will be available)

If you have questions about a particular collection, please contact us in advance of your visit.

Teaching with ASC

We are still eager to collaborate with you on teaching sessions! Because we will be using the Mazzoli room for reference services, we will relocate our teaching to other spaces. Please contact us as early as possible to arrange teaching sessions for Spring 2025 so we have ample time to locate and reserve an appropriate space.

Reproduction services

Imaging/reproduction services will be available as before. Please see our "Order Reproductions" page for more information.
