SSRN provides open access to faculty publications and research. The Legal Studies Research Paper Series highlights recent work by faculty of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.
The first issue of 2022 includes an article by Professor Grace Giesel examining the question of whether an entity’s attorney-client privilege can protect communications between the entity’s lawyer and a nonemployee who was never an employee of the entity. Professor Ariana Levinson co-authors an article that attempts to assist judges and attorneys in their efforts to select an impartial jury by providing an overview of different forms of racism and an introduction to psychometric tools that prioritize the selection of antiracist and impartial jurors. Two articles co-authored by Professor CJ Ryan are also included in this issue. The first article uses results of a nationally representative survey of tenured law professors in the United States to track how gender and race are tied to salary outcomes, while the second examines those law schools that have improved their graduates’ chances of success on the bar exam during difficult times.
