Remote Access to Kornhauser Library Services: Home

How Can I Access Library Resources From Home?

To access library resources, databases, and journals from home, please use your ULink credentials log into Off-Campus Access, linked here. After logging in, you will be returned to the previous page, but you will now be able to access all resources without being prompted to login.

How Can I Contact a Librarian?

Librarians are available for web, phone, or remote meetings only. From March 27-April 28, there will be no library staff or librarians on the premises. Please use the links in the section above to contact a librarian.

How Can I Use PubMed to Access Articles Remotely?

There are now two versions of PubMed listed on the Kornhauser homepage under Top Resources: One for PubMed, which is the newest version of the database, and one for PubMed (Legacy), which is the former version of the database. The New PubMed will become the default database in mid-May 2020.

To access full-text articles in the Kornhauser Library Catalog remotely, patrons must use the link for PubMed to access the new version of PubMed. This is the only link that will have the FindIt@UofL button under full-text links that will allow patrons to access the Kornhauser catalog. While patrons can still use PubMed Legacy to search, they must be aware that they will not be able to access the Kornhauser library catalog directly.

Technical limitations make unfortunately make it impossible for us to link our catalog to both versions and we have chosen to link to the newer version that will fully replace Legacy in the near future.

If you would like to learn more about the new PubMed, please contact a librarian using the links in the box above. We would be glad to provide resources, information, or instruction on how to use the new features to you, your colleagues, students, or clinical team.

What Remote Services Does the Library Offer?

Our librarians are available to remotely provide many of the services we normally offer. Via phone or web conferencing software, librarians are still able to:

  • Answer reference questions
  • Conduct a literature searches
  • Provide one-on-one consultations on research projects
  • Teach classes on information literacy, literature searching, Endnote, or how to use library resources such as PubMed or Browzine
  • Assist with any issues regarding accessing library resources or using library technologies
  • Answer any questions you might have relating to research literature, using resources remotely, or any other library-related topic

Please contact us at any time using the instructions provided in the 'How Can I Contact a Librarian' section above.

Is the Library Still Open?

In order to protect the health and safety of KHSL patrons, staff, and faculty, the Kornhauser Health Sciences Library is closed indefinitely.

Subject to changes in the current health crisis situation, we are planning to stay closed until the university re-opens.

I Need Study Space. Where Can I Study?

The Ekstrom Library on the Belknap campus is open on a reduced schedule until further notice for users with UofL badges. Ekstrom has extensive study space and computer terminals open for all users. Parking on the Belknap campus is now open and free for everyone.

For directions to Ekstrom please visit the Ekstrom homepage here.

NOTE: Ekstrom will be CLOSED April 29 - May 10. It will resume limited hours on May 11.
