Swagar Sherley served as the Congressman from 5th District (Jefferson County, KY) from 1903 to 1919. He was a member and later the chair of Committee on Appropriations and Subcommittee on Fortifications. From 1919 to 1920 he served as Director of Finance for the U.S. Railroad Administration. This collection includes letterbooks, correspondence, and thirty-nine volumes of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee Hearings and Regulations for 1908 through 1921.
