SPAN 322: Find Sources

Guide for Spanish Composition

Literary Research Tips

MLA International Bibliography is the primary database for finding scholarly articles in literature and film.  You can search for an author, a work, a keyword, etc.  The citations link to full-text in many but not ALL cases because the database contains citations for articles (often readily available electronically) but also books (not so available electronically) and dissertations (not always electronically available).

Historical Abstracts is a database of articles from international history journals and magazines.

Ethnic Newswatch has full-text of news from a variety of ethnic communities. Some articles are in Spanish.

JSTOR has 67 important journals relating to Latin American studies. JSTOR does not have current (last 5 years) in the case of many of these journals, but they have the complete historical full-text.

UofL Library Catalog

The new library catalog uses WorldCat Discovery to find books, ebooks, articles, journal titles, videos and more materials from UofL and many other libraries. More info.

Catalog Tips

  • The library catalog uses WorldCat Discovery, a rich resource that not only includes books in the UofL Libraries but also books in Libraries around the world. It is good for searching for foreign language materials, but the materials may have to come from somewhere else and might not be immediately available. It also contains some journal and magazine articles.
  • To search in Spanish, you can type your search terms in the search box, click "Go" and then use the filters on the results screen (left-hand side of the screen) to look at just materials in Spanish.
