How to use Interlibrary Loan

If the University does not own the particular book or receive the journal that contains your article, you have a couple options:

  1. Check the catalog. Do a search in Minerva to see if the University Libraries own a copy.
  2. Check the Metroversity holdings records. They list the names of periodicals in alphabetical order with codes that indicate which libraries in the area receive that particular periodical. If you can't find these binders or you want to double check what you've found, please ask a reference librarian!
  3. Order the item from interlibrary loan. To do an interlibrary loan, you need to:
    • Get the complete citation for the book or periodical article.
    • Set up an ILLiad account for yourself by going into the "First Time Users" section of the Interlibrary Loan page.
    • Choose "Request a photocopy" if you want to get an article or choose "Request a book" if you'd like to get a book. (Other options include: book chapters, theses, and other).

Please note that interlibrary loan takes time. Depending on what you are requesting and where it is coming from, interlibrary loan can take several hours or several weeks.
