Title List

A Title List like the one below results from Title, Journal, Keyword, and Call Number searches if more than one record is retrieved.  A Title List also appears when a line is selected from a Search Results List resulting from an Author and Author (Sorted by Title) or Subject search. Generally the order of a Title List is alphabetical by content of the first column. A Keyword-- all fields (ranked) search also displays results in a Title List, but the entries appear in order of importance to the search terms entered.

Information displayed for the individual entries on a Title List:

journal title results

The first line of information for each title on a Title List gives four or five columns which may include:  number of results, author, title (full or journal), library, publisher, subject or date of publication.  In a Keyword--all fields(ranked) Title List, an additional column containing up to five colored rectangles - 6 denotes the degree of relevance of the records to the keywords entered.  To view bibliographic details and holdings information associated with a particular title from the Title List, click on any underlined text field, generally title and author. Brief View is the default record display. For more complete record details consult the Long View.

In the case of Title Lists resulting from Title and Journal Title searches, an additional column called “Full Title” gives the complete title for the item.  The phrase 1 indicates titles that are available electronically. To access an electronic resource, click on the record for that title and you will find the link to the web version or electronic text from there.

The second line of information for each title entry on a Title List gives the name of the owning library, the call number and the circulation status for the item. If U of L has more than one copy of the title, the Brief View or Long View record display should be consulted for complete location, call number and circulation status information. Also, if a title represents a multi-part set or serial, complete holdings and status information for the individual parts are only available from the Brief View or Long View record display. “Multiple Locations” and “Click title for status” on a Title List require clicking the individual record for holdings and status information.  If the status on the Title List displays as “No circulation status available”, or “no information available” the is not yet in its proper location and assistance can be found at any service desk.
