On March 30, 1967 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visited the Law School, and spoke in the overflowing Allen Court Room.

Following a commemorative event on March 30, 2017, the Law Library opened a temporary display of memorabilia, newspaper clippings, and books related to King and his historic visit to UofL. This guide provides additional resources and information to supplement that exhibit.

50th Anniversary Event

Although King visited Louisville many times in the 1960s, his only visit to the University of Louisville was on March 30, 1967 to the Allen Court Room. On March 30, 2017, a commemorative event was held to in the Law School to mark the anniversary of King's visit. Guest speakers at the anniversary event included Professor Cedric Powell, Attorney Steve Porter, and Dr. Ricky Jones.
