Procedures and Conditions of Student Employment
To be eligible for employment as a Student Assistant in the University Libraries, one should:
- Be enrolled as a Student at the University of Louisville
- Complete an online application.
The applications serve as a resource pool for the units in the library system desiring to hire students. When a vacancy occurs, a representative from the unit will:
- review and screen applications on file;
- set up an interview with prospective students best meeting the department's needs;
- notify the Libraries Personnel Officer of the hiring decision.
For this type of employment, applications of those students not hired will remain on file until the end of the semester. APPLICATIONS MUST BE UPDATED EVERY SEMESTER FOR EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATION.
The starting wage of Student Assistants employed in the University Libraries is $6.35 per hour ($7.00 for college work study) paid on a bi-weekly basis. Students are eligible for a performance-based wage increase after at least one semester of continuous employment, provided a favorable performance review has been completed.
