Metropolitan College Computer Lab Etiquette

There is a registration sheet beside the monitor of the Lab. Consultant. The sheet requires your initials, the time you arrived and the school, which you are enrolled in: Metropolitan College, University of Louisville or Other. The sign in sheet is for statistical purposes only. Please ensure that you register.

Food and Drink

Please avoid bringing food and drink into the lab. Food and drinks are prohibited because of the potential harm they may cause to the computers and to the lab furniture. Please enjoy your food and drinks in the student lounge or the Tulip Tree Café.

Playing games or visiting chat rooms

We’d like all our patrons to have the opportunity to enjoy the many benefits of the MCCL. It is for this reason that the use of chat rooms and the playing of games on and off-line should be avoided.

Installing Software

The Software available for use in the lab can be found using the Novell Application Launcher (NAL). Occasionally, patrons, like you may have applications, which require installation on the computers to run. In such a case, please see the lab consultant to find out if the software is useable on the computers and to help install the software. We discourage unapproved installation of software. We also prohibit the use of illegal software on the computers in the lab. When a Software problem occurs, please see the lab consultant for help. Do not reboot the computer, as this may cause immediate problems when restarting windows.

Noise Level

Please, keep your voice to the minimum level if you are discussing something with a friend.

Headsets

Headphones are available at the Media Desk Resources. You need a library user card to check items out.
