Plans and administers the programs and services of the art library in support of the educational, research and service mission primarily of the art department, but also other departments in the university and the University Libraries. Responsible for collection development and evaluation, instruction and technology needs. Administers the work of one staff member.

Associate Dean for Assessment, Personnel and Research, Melissa Laning
Plans and directs libraries' assessment activities. Represents the libraries on university assessment projects. Assists the Dean, and other unit directors with system-wide planning. Coordinates all personnel issues. Manages the Libraries’ research agenda including grants. Serves as a liaison to the faculty of two academic departments. Supervises one staff.
Associate Dean, Libraries Operations and Director, Ekstrom Library, Diane Nichols
Facilitates planning, development, implementation and assessment of programs and public services in the Ekstrom Library. Assists the Dean, University Libraries, with planning and administrative activities. Represents the Dean as needed. Coordinates Libraries’ facilities and related projects. Oversees student wage budget for the Libraries. Administers the Ekstrom Library Metro Computer Lab. Supervises 4 faculty members and one staff member. Serves as library liaison to the Office of the Vice President for Research.
Associate Dean for Collections, Preservation and Digital Initiatives, Suzy Szasz Palmer
Coordinates and monitors the Libraries’ collection development activities including Special Collections and Rare Books. Oversees collections budget of approximately $7 million; monitors system-wide expenditure of allocated and endowment funds. Participates in long-range planning for collection development in support of the University’s teaching and research activities. Chairs the Collection Development Committee and implements collection development policies and procedures. Oversees the Libraries’ digital projects. Supervises 4 faculty.
Administration - Evelyn J. Schneider Endowed Chair for Scholarly Communication, Dwayne Buttler
Provides leadership and guidance to the University Libraries, the University of Louisville, and other state and national constituencies on copyright and its relationship to teaching, learning, and scholarly communication. Develops and disseminates educational and informational resources and materials addressing copyright and scholarly communication through web-based and other means of discussion. Plans and leads workshops and presentations on scholarly communication and copyright locally, regionally, and nationwide. Participates in local and national organizations and associations to promote fair use and to encourage copyright and licensing practices and policies that balance the needs of users with the rights of copyright owners.
Administration - Head, Web Services, and Public Services - Interim Coordinator, Media Resources,Terri Holtze
Designs, creates and maintains the library web pages in cooperation with all libraries and the Office of Library Technology and other campus units as appropriate. Ensures effective web access to the libraries’ electronic resources. Conducts user assessments to determine web site needs, provides training for staff who work on web pages. Reviews and evaluates emerging web technologies and coordinates the Web Management Team. Staffs the Reference desk 2 hours per week. Participates in information literacy instruction for General Education and English classes. Acts as Interim Coordinator of Ekstrom Library Media Resources Department by supervising two staff members, acting as backup for the department and participating in the planning of the future facilities and resources.
Digital Initiatives Librarian - Rachel Howard
Manages libraries digital projects, and sets priorities for campus wide digital initiatives. Digitizes special collections and other library resources and coordinates similar efforts undertaken by other library personnel. Manages and preserves the digital collections and develops quality control mechanisms. Develops shared standards and procedures for all digital projects conducted in the various University Libraries. Collaborates with units and organizations outside the libraries and the University including collaboration on grant-writing to support digital initiatives.
Head, Collection Development and Coordinator of Operations, Special Collections, James E. Manasco
Coordinates public service activities for the Special Collections Department. Participates in departmental planning and management; supervises 3 staff members and 2 FTE student assistants. Provides reference services for on-site and remote users of Special Collections, as well as at the Ekstrom Library reference desk. Develops and promotes programs, special events, exhibitions, and publications to heighten public awareness of the special collections. Assists Associate Dean with various functions of collections development. Supervises 3 staff.
Head, Kentucky Union List of Serials (KULS), Allen Ashman
Directs the creation and maintenance of the Kentucky Union List of Serials as a subgroup of OCLC's serials union listing records and promotes the list's use through interlibrary loan and reference services. Communicates with member libraries, the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, does grant reporting, supervises 2 KULS staff, gives presentations at state conferences, and ensures the adherence to evolving international serials holdings standards.
Information Literacy - Coordinator, Anna Marie Johnson
Provides leadership for the University Libraries Information Literacy program by facilitating communication between librarians involved in instruction. Oversees the scheduling of instructional sessions for Ekstrom Library. Creates teaching outlines, instructional handouts, and Web pages that support the Libraries’ Information Literacy curriculum. Plans assessment of information skills teaching. Supervises one staff person. Works with the Reference Department to maintain contact with students on a daily basis.
Office of Libraries Technology - Director, Weiling Liu
Provides leadership and project coordination for technology including assessment, evaluation, planning and development; leads the Libraries’ technology team; manages the technology budget and the purchase, installation and maintenance of computing and networking equipment including the portal system (SFX and MetaLib);administers the Office of Libraries Technology including training; serves as liaison to local, state and regional technology groups. Supervises 1faculty and six staff.
Office of Libraries Technology - Assistant Director, Mark Paul
Assists the Director, Office of Libraries Technology, in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of technology in support of the University Libraries and the University's educational, research, and service mission. Administers the University Libraries' Integrated Library System (Voyager). Serves as the local administrator and technical support of contracted vendor databases and electronic research products. Coordinates software system management in Robotic Retrieval System. Manages configuration and support of off-campus authentication for remote access to databases and electronic products. Supervises 1 staff.
Public Services - Head, Mildred Franks
Oversees and coordinates all public services to users; encourages and facilitates communication among service staff, and interactions with all users, and promotes excellence in all services. Manages the Reference and Circulation Departmentt and supervises 3 staff and 8 faculty. Provides reference and research assistance to the University and community; teaches classes in research and information literacy.
Public Services - Reference, Mary Barbosa-Jerez
Provides reference service and reference training sessions; does reference collection-development for education, history, linguistics, anthropology and archaeology, music and film and develops online research guides. Teaches information literacy sessions. Coordinates the Libraries’ liaison program for collections with academic faculty and serves as liaison for faculty in Anthropology, Communications, Composition and Rhetoric, Education Humanities, Philosophy and Religion as well as Women’s and Gender Studies.

Special Collections - Curator, George McWhorter
Selects and manages all materials for the Burroughs Collection; performs research and provides reference service associated with the collection. Prepares exhibits, provides inventory and finding aids for the collection. Manages all public relations activities for the collection. Edits and publishes the Burroughs Bulletin and the Gridley Wave.
Technical Services - Head, Tyler Goldberg
Facilitates the acquisition, cataloging, and preservation of library resources in all formats in support of the University Libraries educational, research and service mission. Administers the Technical Services Division, including serials acquisitions, cataloging, government documents processing, binding, stacks maintenance, and the Kentucky Union List of Serials. Coordinates and supervises the work of 4 faculty and 6 staff.
Technical Services - Government Publications, Angel Clemons
Coordinates all processing activities associated with federal, state, and local government documents. Works closely with the Government Information Reference Librarian to select and organize government materials within the Libraries and to ensure adherence to federal depository library program guidelines and rules. Directs the retrospective conversion of federal government documents into the Libraries' larger collection. Oversees the receipt of documents in all formats that are new to the Libraries' collections. Manages receipt and editing of Marcive records and participates in the loading of these records into Voyager. Performs original cataloging. Provides reference assistance 3-4 hours per week.
Technical Services - Cataloging, Lois C. Severt
Provides machine searchable access to print and non-print titles in the Libraries' collections using established ALA and Library of Congress standards and cataloging rules. Supervises 3 staff members; including training to implement software and database upgrades in Voyager and OCLC WorldCat.

Kornhauser Health Sciences Library
Director, Neal Nixon
Facilitates the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of collections, programs and services in support of the educational, research and service mission of the Health Sciences Center and the University Libraries. Administers the Kornhauser Library’s annual budget ($2 million), coordinates the work of faculty and staff (22 FTE) and provides leadership to the Health Sciences Center on information and educational technology issues.
Deputy Director, Nancy Utterback
Participates in administrative work and does special projects for Kornhauser Library. Coordinates technology needs of Kornhauser and provides leadership for Health Sciences Center technology planning and issues. Coordinates Kornhauser facility planning and statistics. Administers the University Hospital Library, including negotiating annual contracts and budgets. Supervises 2.5 staff.
Education Services, Michel Atlas
Schedules the Information Desk, trains new staff, and fills in as necessary to ensure coverage. Holds regularly scheduled meetings, collects statistics, and writes the annual report. Plans, schedules, creates presentations and handouts, publicizes and conducts many of the library’s classes. Functions as liaison coordinator for library staff in their efforts to establish and maintain good relations with the schools, departments, centers, and institutes on the Health Sciences Campus.
Electronic Services, Judy Wulff
Manages electronic services for the libraries. Gathers and analyzes statistics for Library’s electronic services. Coordinates selection processes for Louisville Medical Center Consortium. Provides reference services, teaches library classes, performs liaison services, and maintains library Website.
Library Marketing, Elizabeth Smigielski
Plans and implements marketing activities for Kornhauser Library, including development and implementation of strategies for assessment of services and user satisfaction. Participates in the library’s liaison program, provides reference services, develops and teaches library instruction courses, and oversees the collection development of the library’s audio-visual collections.
Outreach Librarian, Carol Brinkman
Plan, promotes and oversees library services and educational programs for health care professional and consumers in Louisville area and western Kentucky. Participates in the development and promotion of Programs and services to faculty, staff, students and other health care professionals affiliated with the University. Assists with reference, instruction and special projects.
Public Services , John Chenault
Provides reference services for patrons of the Health Science Library, including assistance with using and searching electronic resources, and locating print journals, serials and monographs in the stacks. Responsible for designing and teaching citation management software courses for library patrons.

Supervises all aspects of the Kornhauser Library and University Hospital Library technical services, including personnel, fund accounting, collection development, and cataloging. Allocates appropriate funding for the selection and procurement of library materials.
Hospital Librarian - Sue Raymond
Manages the operation of a small hospital library, a branch of the Kornhauser Library. Manages collection development, photocopy/interlibrary loan services, and all aspects of reference services including use of databases and other outside resources. Establishes policies and procedures applicable to a hospital and medical school library. Provides instruction about the resources of the hospital library and the medical school library. Provides six hours of reference work in the Kornhauser Library.
Archivist/Curator (20%), Katherine Johnson
Manages archives and manuscript collections housed in the History Collections. Solicits collections, works with donors, appraises potential donated material, and accessions collections. Administers the Rare Book Collection, part of the History Collections. Works with Technical Services on cataloging and placement issues. Works on preservation issues for manuscript material and rare books. Provides reference for the History Collections. Develops exhibits related to the History Collections.

Director, Karen Little
Facilitates the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of collections, programs and services to support the educational, research and service mission of the School of Music and the University Libraries. Administers the Dwight Anderson Music Library's annual budget; coordinates the work of faculty and staff and provides leadership to the School of Music on information and educational technology issues.
Assistant Director, Ana Dubnjakovic
Oversees the technical services department of the Music Library, cataloging in all formats, and provides reference assistance and bibliographic instruction to library users. Manages all electronic services for the library. Supervises the work of 1.6 FTE. Assists in other areas as needed.
University Archives & Records Center
Director, William Morison
Administers university policies with respect to state and federal records laws, including those governing personal privacy; public access; micrographic, photographic, or electronic storage and reproduction;. Manages the disposition and destruction of public records. As official custodian of all university records, serves as U of L’s open records officer and FERPA compliance officer. As director of the University Archives and Records Center, oversees all university records of enduring value and the largest group of non-university historical documents and collections owned by the university and the foundation.
Associate Director , Carrie Daniels
Creates and maintains catalog records for archival and historical manuscript collections and facilitates online intellectual access to collections. Develops and oversees projects involving digitization of analog materials and access to those materials. Provides technological support to University Archives & Records Center staff. Co-directs the Oral History Center, with responsibility for preserving and enhancing access to oral history interviews and fostering growth in the collection. Provides reference assistance.
Archivist for Manuscript Collections (60%), Katherine B. Johnson
Manages all historical manuscript collections housed at the University Archives and Records Centers including soliciting and evaluating donations, working with donors, accessioning new collections, and arranging and describing them for use by researchers. Considers preservation needs for new and existing collections. Provides reference service to researchers. Oversees UARC sponsored exhibits, and participates in library-wide programs and exhibits.
Archivist for Records Management, Chadwick Owen
Responsible for the selection, transfer, maintenance, preservation, retention, and disposal of all university records in traditional and non-traditional (electronic) forms. Consistent with Kentucky law and university policy, develops and maintains all related policies, procedures, manuals, and training materials for U of L's records management program. Provides outreach to university departments related to their management of records through the use of state-approved retention schedules. Researches and implements innovative changes to strengthen the university-wide program and individual departments in managing university information. Works with scholars who do research using the university's historical records.
Archivist for Local History (50%), Thomas Owen
Assists researchers and provides reference service to University community, scholarly researchers, students, community and government entities. Maintains news clippings and reference files on local history as well as University biographical, building and topical reference files. Identifies and secures donations of local history collections. Writes preliminary descriptions of recent local history accessions and conducts oral history interviews.
